| The Third Man is an independent production and facilities company established in Cornwall in 1994 by Ian Stockdale after a long career working for the BBC and ITV. In 1995 while retaining an office in Cornwall, we expanded and moved to head offices in Plymouth. In 1996 we were commissioned to produce our first ITV regional series and a further series of entertainment programmes was commissioned in 1997.
In a further expansion in April 1999, Karen Stockdale, previously the Controller-Features at ITV Westcountry joined the company as the Development Director. At Carlton Karen was responsible for over 100 hours of broadcast programming each year for the ITV network in a wide range of genres: from documentary and factual to entertainment and childrens'.
In February 2005 Karen was appointed as a board director of Cornwall Film, the organisation responsible for the sustainable growth of businesses in the audio visual sector within the county.
The Third Man also manages Plymouth Media-Partnership, a collaborative network of companies spanning a wide range of creative content sectors, from design and print to wireless network-enabled broadband producers. This network enables us to call upon the skills and expertise of an even greater range of technical and creative talent.
In addition to direct commissions we have facilitated independent programmes for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.
In recent years we have developed a new media section which can produce material on DVD, CD Rom and for the web.
